As you know our Education Committee is a continuous heartwarming experience. On October 28, we witnessed happy educational excitement when the Big Bear Hotshots, San Bernardino, visited Big Bear Middle School. Our community has this group of women and men working from our forest as part of the US Forest Service, Department of Agriculture. Our goal for their visit was to develop an appreciation of our forest and how to take care of it. The Hotshots had interesting equipment and graciously shared it. They let the students hold the gigantic chainsaw (not turned on), sit in the driver seats of the two trucks while the interior was explained. The skilled, energetic, humble Hotshots were excellent role models for the students. It was such a success, the principal Dr. Lisanne Francisco, has requested the Hotshots return for career day later this year.
