Field Trip - Heaps Peak Arboretum

Situated in the San Bernardino National Forest at an elevation of almost exactly 6,000 feet, the 30-acre Arboretum and its botanical gardens maintain a fascinating diversity of mostly native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and other plants.

An Adventure Pass ($5) for parking is required, or an America the Beautiful Pass can be used. They do not sell them there, so please purchase ahead of time at the Big Bear Discovery Center, Big 5, or a variety of other spots in Big Bear.

Meet in the VONS parking lot at 10 a.m. to carpool. Sturdy shoes, water, and a hat are recommended.

General Meeting

We were very honored to receive Sandy Sneers this morning at the general Garden Club meeting.  She gave a delightful presentation on the Big Bear Eagles.  Everyone was excited to hear her speak and we were all entertained by the eagle antics she described and learned new things about eagle behavior.   We are all very proud of our little eagle family in Big Bear.

Our community has become famous worldwide as some of our world travelers attested to this morning.  We will continue to follow Jackie, Shadow, Sunny and Gizmo and hope our little fledglings will be successful in navigating the big world out there.  We hope to see Jackie and Shadow back next season.

For more information and updates, check out the FOBBV website as well as the posts on Facebook.
